Tested Yacht: Hanse 470, production year 2008

Location of the boat: Marina Kaštela, Split area, Croatia

Hanse 470 is stylish and comfortable performance- cruiser, with very sleek and modern design. Our tested model is an large owner version with 3 cabins/ 2 heads layout and beautiful teak deck.

When you take this yacht for a charter, you will realise the difference immediately - this is a real owner version sailing yacht, offering much more space under the deck comparing to the similar yachts for charter of the same size.
On the first sight Hanse 470 is very beautiful. Straight and clean lines, and modern deck completely covered in teak- clean cockpit area and open stern are revealing race spirit of this modern sailing yacht.

Hanse 470 has a large saloon, and even larger cabins - with great owner bow cabin- and island shipped bed. Stern cabins are also very comfortable- with large and wide beds. Toilets are also quite big and modern, and complete interior is very light and with white walls. Hanse 470 was trendsetter with modern interior design in yachting.

Model that we have tested had both freezer and refrigerator, nespresso coffee machine and generator- so your life on the sea without visiting harbours everyday is very relaxed.
I like modern saloon with real sofa inside— and it still offers great storage under the sofa, but looks much more comfortable than classical sailing yacht saloon sofas. Our model had convertible saloon table, so sofa would be a large bed in less than one minute.

When it comes to sailing performance, Hanse 470 is simply great. Large sailing area (higher mast comparing to other sailing yachts of similar size), light epoxy v shaped hull- and a steel construction are making this sailing yacht great both in stability and sailing performance.
Hanse 470 is very easy to sail with minimal crew members, and we were sailing her as party of 2. Instead of classic genoa there is a self tacking jib, and self tacking jib is much easier for handling and changing the sides without hassle. Our model had electric winch, so lifting huge full batten main sail was very easy task for us. When it comes to stability boat is performing very well on the rough sea, and it sails very quickly even during lighter winds.
For better performance, when you have more crew members on board, I would recommend using gennaker- and you wont regret extra cost - since boat sails very well.

Cockpit space is also great, but only thing what is not very well designed is table which is maybe too small for crew of 6 people, but anyway since boat is really great and offers great comfort for 6-it was not such a big issue.

Hanse 470 is in my opinion still one of the best yachts that Hanse produced lately- and design is 10 years ahead.

Hanse 470 is luxury owner sailing yacht, offering both great comfort and sailing performance.
